Terwijl Sigfried met een bezem op afstand wordt gehouden \u2013 geen vreemde is veilig op zijn erf \u2013 klimt Monique de boom in om de luiaard te pakken. Het is een vermagerd mannetje met opvallend korte nagels. Waarschijnlijk is hij iemands huisdier geweest. Voor het zover is, moeten zijn nagels eerst lang genoeg zijn. Hij heeft ze nodig om zichzelf schoon te maken en goed te kunnen klimmen. Door hun trage stofwisseling groeien de nagels van luiaards erg langzaam.
